Recently, the stress on banks has led bond traders to anticipate an end to the Federal Reserve's rate hikes. The current economic situation is causing panic and uncertainty in the bond market, which is leading traders to expect soon-to-end Fed rate hikes. The Federal Reserve has hiked rates three times this year, most recently in December. Investors are expecting more hikes in the near future as the economy continues to improve, but stocks have been rising even as interest rates rise, indicating that there is too much debt available. This financial instability could lead to a market crash if people become discouraged about investing and borrowing.
