Pretend you’re Eloise and it’s dress up time.

TikTok has been credited with having a greater impact on the fashion zeitgeist than runways in recent years, especially when it comes to offbeat styles. As an illustration of the foregoing, Plazacore serves as an excellent case study. It’s hard to avoid seeing references to the preppy look that’s been dubbed “Eloise” after the popular children’s book character (who, of course, lives at New York’s Plaza Hotel).

Suppose you have a closet full of tweed, hair bows and headbands, collared shirts, and classic styles. The Upper East Side has seen the return of Blair Waldorf, but with a slightly updated (yet still preppy!) style befitting the heiress. Even if you weren’t a huge fan of the Gossip Girl fashion sense when the show first aired over 15 years ago (! ), I can assure you that this latest look is as sophisticated and fashionable as they come.

However, as an entire “aesthetic,” your environment may also play a role in Plazacore. TikTok celebrities such as @prettylittlefawn and @thesandraduran have really visited the landmark to shoot videos there. The movies are fun inspiration, but you can create a similar scene in your own home with a green screen or by visiting the lobby of a nearby five-star hotel.

Plazacore fans should take heart from the fact that the trend has been noticed by more than just TikTok performers putting their own spin on Eloise this season. Get your hands on some pearls, your grandma’s old tweed coat, and a Peter Pan collar. There is no escaping the craze any longer.
